The beginning of a new Century the year 2000 also known as Y2K and a fear of a global computer breakdown, which never happened but a lot of companies made great profits by selling 'fixes' no one needed.

There were celebrations all around the world and also a big Y2K party in the Drumtochty Arms Hotel in Auchenblae. You will find some pictures of this party below among pictures form The Auchenblae Gala, the Halloween Party, the Cycle race, the OAP's x-mas Dinner, the Art Exhibition, the WRI Gala and all the other festivities and Parties that keep a little Village alive. One of the memorable events of 2000 was near the end of the year when, for the first time, the Auchenblae Christmas tree was lit up at the Market Square. It was a great moment when Miss Mary Craig, to the applause of all the Villagers, switched the lights on.Miss Craig is known to all Villagers as a former, well  loved and respected Teacher at Auchenblae School. The ceremony of switching on the lights coincided with the celebrations of her 90th Birthday This year, on the 9th of December 2010, Miss Craig will be reaching the magic age of 100

Happy Birthday and many more returns.

Another Celebration will be the refurbishment of the Bruce Fountain in the Market Square . The Fountain was built in 1910 after the death of a Mr Bruce who was the publican of the Kintore Arms, (which later became known as the Drumtochty Arms). Mr Bruce left money in his will for the fountain to be built in his memory. The refurbishment of the fountain will be done this year 100 years after it was originally erected.

All good things come in three. When you walk from the Square down to the Den you will not only find a nature walk, playground for the Children and the famous Bowling green but also the Tennis Court which opened for the first time 100 years ago.

All this and the Drumtochty Highland Games a nice mixture of a lovely Village in Scotland.
