Barn Dance 2004

Drumtochty held their 14th Barn Dance at Holmfield Fettercairn on sat 8th May. Some committee members can miraculously remember them all !!!!
200 revellers attended and danced into the wee small hours to the musical talents of the Strathmore Ceilidh Band with the legendary Jim Reid in superb voice. At 10 o'clock ,totally unannounced, the famous Lonach Pipe Band, in full uniform, led by Drum Major Ian Morrison and under the stewardship of Pipe Major Alistair Laing marched straight into the barn dance and played for 1/2 hour. The reception was tumultuous

At 1am after Auld Lang Syne they played another selection of tunes before boarding their bus to return to their scattered homes in Strathdon--some getting home at 4am. The Lonach is a very special band gifted with a unique talent of friendship, music and thirst.
