Here is one of many kind emails received:

This was my very first visit to any Highland Games and the Drumtochty Highland Games surpassed my expectations.  What fun we had cheering on the hill runners, admiring the highland dancers, listening intently to the solo pipers, studying the high jump and athletic events, watching with baited breath the psychology of the tug-o-war teams as they waited and waited taking up the strain ‘til finally one side just edged that ribbon over the marker.  And what can I say about the massed band parading round and round the arena but brilliant, so many hours of training and rehearsal and all outfits were immaculate.  The stall holders had their part to play and one of them even offered to take a photograph of the 4 of us together, how lovely of her, thank you again.  But the piece d’resistance for me was the brawny lads of the heavy weight brigade.  When it came to tossing the caber they beat everyone hands down.  For concentration, skill, timing, sheer guts, and fearless approach, they took a lot of beating.  The final 2, once the measurements were in, shook hands in honour of their achievement.

It was a sad time when Robbie Shepherd announced the Games were over for another year and “haste ye back” was never more aptly said and felt by one and all.

Thank you and best wishes for the 34th year.

Frances Durward

Here are some pictures from the Clay Pigeon Shoot  on the eve of the Games.. As mentioned in the article on the home page, the evening  'enjoyed' a slight midge attack and later rain ,  but still a great atmosphere and fun all around!
